Print Hive for Grok Bot
Print Hive connects to Grok Bot as a remote MCP plugin. OAuth keeps tokens in Grok's credential storage and binds every call to the Print Hive organization you select. Product overview: printhiv3d.com/integrations/grok-bot.
Prerequisites
- A Grok Bot account that can install plugins
- A Print Hive account with access to the organization you want to manage
- HiveLink online for any printer you want to inspect
Install via Add by URL
Print Hive is not in the Grok Bot plugin directory yet. The path that works is Plugins → Add by URL.
- Open Plugins in the Grok Bot sidebar. It sits above your account / profile picture.
- Choose Add by URL.
- Paste
https://api.printhiv3d.com/v1/mcp.
Grok discovers OAuth from the MCP endpoint. Do not add an x-api-key header, and do not paste API keys or printer access codes into chat.
Authorize Print Hive
- Sign in to Print Hive when the browser prompt appears.
- Review the requested permissions, select the correct organization, and approve the connection.
- Return to Grok Bot and confirm that Print Hive is installed.
If Grok shows a short claim code instead of opening the browser, complete the claim on app.printhiv3d.com. Do not paste the code back into chat.
Verify the installation
Start with a read-only ask:
What do I do next on the farm?Or list printers:
List my printers and separate connectivity from print activity. You are connected when Print Hive shows as installed, you picked the correct organization, and a read-only ask returns your named printers. Do not start, stop, or heat a printer to test the connection.
Directory fallback
When Print Hive appears in the Grok Bot plugin directory, you can open Plugins, search for Print Hive, and complete the same OAuth flow. Until then, use Add by URL.
Security boundaries
- OAuth access is bound to your selected Print Hive organization and granted scopes.
- Printer access codes and local host credentials are entered only in the Print Hive web app.
- Write and printer-control tools resolve an explicit target and may require confirmation before execution.
- Do not paste API keys, printer access codes, or OAuth claim codes into Grok chat.
Troubleshooting
- Print Hive is not in the directory — use Plugins → Add by URL with
https://api.printhiv3d.com/v1/mcp. - Cannot find Plugins — look in the Grok Bot sidebar above your account / profile picture. Plugins is not a Settings tab.
- Authorization loops — remove the plugin, add it again by URL, and complete OAuth in the same browser session. If authorization stalls, reopen the browser flow.
- Printer offline — verify HiveLink and network health before retrying.
